Brewery Museum in Pilsen

An appeal to all beer lovers

Pilsner Urquell jointly with the Brewery Museum in Pilsen and the Archive of the Plzeňský Prazdroj, a.s. company hereby ask all those who possess historical items relating, in any way, to pilsner beer, the hospitality sector or the brewery in Pilsen (up to the year 1989) to contribute the items they own to the collection of the Brewery Museum in Pilsen, and to thus engage in the preparations of an annual exhibition entitled “Pubs in Pilsen, or From the brewery to beer regulars” (Plzeňské hospody aneb Z pivovaru za štamgasty“), which will open on 4 May 2017 on the premises of the Brewery Museum in Pilsen, in the courtyard of the Pilsner Urquell brewery and at selected pubs in Pilsen.

If you have any items, photographs or documents at home that might enrich the exhibition devoted to pubs in Pilsen, we would like to ask you to immerse yourself in the old times with us and contribute to the museum’s collections. What we are looking for, and collect, are specifically items such as photographs of interiors and exteriors of Czech pubs, invitations, posters, dance cards, pieces of equipment from pubs and restaurants, various bans or writs, menus, receipts, advertising signs, pictures, postcards and other items related to the hospitality sector in the 19th century and the 20th century up to 1989. In other words, anything related to pubs, beer gardens, balls, associations and fellowships, sessions, pub regulars, etc.

Please send pictures of your historical items by 24 April 2017 to the collection’s email address: sbirky.muzeum@pilsner.sabmiller.com, or you can bring the items directly to the Brewery Museum in Pilsen (6 Veleslavínova, daily between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.).

Items devoted to us through this initiative will remain preserved in the collections of the Brewery Museum in Pilsen where they will serve for the purpose of future brewing-related exhibitions or as study material for future generations. Selected items will be displayed at the exhibition that is currently being prepared. The brewery will reward every owner who donates or lends their items with Pilsner lager or with a voucher for a tour of the Brewery Museum in Pilsen and the Pilsen Historical Underground.

Thank you very much in advance for your support!
