The Festival of Light will illuminate the City of Pilsen and the Pilsner Urquell brewery. On Friday, 20 February and on Saturday, 21 February 2015 from 6:00pm to midnight, 10 light installations and screenings will light up the area between the DEPOT2015 creative zone and Pilsner Urquell brewery. Top artists from the Czech Republic and abroad will perform in Pilsen during a programme put together in cooperation with the Prague Signal Festival, which over the last 2 years has gained renown worldwide.
Visitors will have the opportunity to view two installations at the brewery.
The Cloud

A popular installation called THE CLOUD will await visitors on the courtyard of the Pilsner Urquell brewery. It comprises a thousand standard domestic light-bulbs which, combined with LED bulbs, give a brand new potential to electronic waste. The installation will enthral festival visitors and encourage them to work as a collective and turn the CLOUD off and on again. It enjoys great popularity among audiences, and has enchanted visitors in Calgary, Moscow, Chicago and in Czech regions. You now have the chance to see the luminous Cloud free of charge on the courtyard of the brewery.
Die Herde

The other installation will be located right in the heart of the brewery cellars. This unconventional piece by Axel T. Schmidt, a German artist, under the title “Die Herde”, is accompanied by live music. Brewery visitors will have the chance to enjoy an installation comprising over 40 red and blue lamps with pulsing lights together with a tasting of Pilsner Urquell lager, the official beer of Pilsen 2015 – European Capital of Culture. The “Die Herde” installation will be available either free of charge during a short 30-minute tour of the brewery cellars or as part of the standard brewery tour.
