Pilsen Carnival 2016

You shouldn’t miss a procession through the city and celebrations including the traditional Old Bohemian hog-killing feast!

You are invited to walk around the city of Pilsen with a masquerade procession, witness the throwing of the effigy of Morana (Death Goddess) into the river to drive out winter, and enjoy the Old Bohemian jamboree in the Na Spilce restaurant.

Children can look forward to dancing and having fun in masquerade costumes.  The evening will belong to the grownups with the program including celebrations, the burial of the symbol of Carnival (Masopust in Czech) to symbolise the end of the fast, and an offer of hog-killing specialties.

 

4 p.m.

U Branky (the Smetanovy sady park) – start of the Carnival procession

5:30 p.m. – 7 p.m.

Na Spilce restaurant – a chance for children to have fun and enjoy dancing in masques and costumes

7 p.m. – 11 p.m.

–          The Canival jamboree, including the burial of Carnival,

–          The Mladina band will be performing in case you wish to dance,

–          A special hog-killing offer (on Friday, 5 February & on Saturday, 6 February): hog-killing specialties, black puddings, home-made brawn and hog-killing goulash.
