The tour route through the Gambrinus brewery

Visitor Centre

The tour starts at the Visitor Centre, located in a renovated historic building, the former “wort cooler building” built in 1868 on the historic courtyard of Plzeňský Prazdroj. Here one of our guides will briefly familiarize you with the tour route. Then you will spend the next hour and a half touring the world of Gambrinus.

Bottling Plant

Stáčírna g

Our brewery bus will take you from the courtyard of the brewery to our new bottling plant, which is one of the most modern in Europe. This modern building houses three bottling lines – two forbottling, with an impressive capacity of 120,000 bottles per hour, and one for cans, with a capacity of 41,000 cans per hour.

Unfortunately for operational reasons, it is not possible to change the course of the filling lines and therefore we cannot guarantee that bottling lines will be fully operational during the tour.

Brewhouse 1869 – A look back at the history

Varna 1869 g

You will next visit the original brewhouse of Gambrinus, which underwent renovation recently. Here you will learn about the history of the Gambrinus brewery, which began in 1869, and with the leading figures inextricably linked with the development of the Gambrinus brewery. We will then introduce you to the brewing process and the ingredients we use to brew Gambrinus beer.

Today’s brewhouse

Současná varna Gambrinus g

Here we introduce you to the heart of the brewery, where Gambrinus beer is brewed: today’s brewhouse. This brewhouse can brew up to 12 batches per day, with the volume of one batch equal to 840 hl of cold wort. The modern technology used here guarantees a friendly approach to the incoming ingredients, as evident by the optimized brewing time, which is set in order to achieve the desired taste, color, foam and aroma while ensuring that the incoming ingredients are not devalued.

Gambrinus Arena

Gambrinus Arénag

You will enjoy and experience the world of Gambrinus inside our unique interactive Gambrinus Arena. Find out who initiated the recovery of the Gambrinus brewery, which was nearly destroyed during air raids in 1945. Ride back through time in an historic truck, make a penalty kick against a goalkeeper from the Gambrinus League or take the spotlight as the guitarist of a rock group.

Brewhouse 1869 – Beer tasting and the school of beer

Varna 1869 - Škola pivag

At the end of the tour you will return to the Brewhouse 1869, where a tasting of Gambrinus beer awaits you, during the course of which one of our brewing experts will tell you how to recognize the quality of beer and how to properly care for it. You will also learn how to properly tap beer and have the chance to pour it yourself under expert supervision.
